Ah kids... the gift that keep on giving. It's just been a really bad week for listening in the Wickmansion, both at home and school. I hate that they're in trouble all the time, but sheesh! Something's gotta give! Riley hid donuts and ice cream (!) under the island 2 days ago, that was a nice melty surprise (not!).
Wednesday morning I got to go to the Evangeline Maid Bread Company with Riley's class for a field trip. What a neat thing to see! Bread smelling SOOO delicious and flying through the air on conveyor belts! The guy doing the tour was so odd, not excited in the least telling us about how people get their fingers cut off there and not to touch anything. And not to take pics. And not to sue. LOL! WEIRD! We all got a bag with a loaf of bread and a honeybun in it when we left, so that was awesome, no need to buy bread at the grocery store this week!
I had my second round of butt clinching, goose-egg inducing Faslodex shots this week. Yowza! They don't hurt going in, but dang 2 days later, I don't wanna move for fear of hitting that spot on each cheek!

We're all still here...
So fun day yesterday. Apparently Riley thought it'd be funny (I guess) to tell Eli that Celeste, their sister, was dead. Not only dead, but had been stabbed in the heart. Rather than confirming this information with his parents, Eli set off to school and proceeded to tell his teachers and the REACH afterschool staff about how his sister died in this horrible way. We found out when the REACH people asked about it. Le sigh. How these kids get this mess in their heads is beyond me, and why on earth you wouldn't ask about it...??? Meanwhile I can only imagine what Eli thought all day... "Huh, seems like Mom should've said something. Is this a secret? " Was he sad? I would think so... Poor guy.
Went to Philadelphia this past weekend for a really great weekend with my mets girls. It was for the Living Beyond Breast Cancer Metastatic BC conference... Really it's just a chance for all of us who love each other online all year long to get together and share the love in person, hang out, not wear hair or hats, not care, and eat good food. I had the time of my life, and it's always so bittersweet to leave knowing that in the next year until I see them again, some may not make it through. The first year I went we filled the upstairs lounge with girls... this year, we only needed 2 couches and a few chairs.
Got back, saw the doc today, scheduling my next brain MRI for next week, then results go to tumor board on Friday to see what they think. Pray that it just stayed exactly the same so I can get this trial drug started!!!!

Welcome to the Wickmansion! Here's where I'll (try!) to update everyone on all the family goings on as well as what's happening with my health.
So a little about our family... We're a family of 5, Chris and Rachel and our kids. There's C, a 19 year old in college (Chris' daughter, my step-daughter), R, a 6 year old boy who has ADHD and is a ball of fun energy, and E, a 5 year old boy who is sensitive and kind. We also have a doberman, Neo, and a bearded dragon, Mr. Spork (who's actually a girl, long story for another time). We live on 5 acres of property which can be so nice, but then again, so much work! We have cows and chickens next door and a subdivision on the other side, so a little something for everyone. I have metastatic breast cancer, diagnosed in February of 2011, with mets to my brain, bone, and liver. We try to just enjoy life and not focus on the "what-ifs" right now!
So that's the abbreviated version of our life... more to come!
